I really like the idea of the picture. I think it is well composed and I like the lighting. However, I find the baby distracting and out of place. Overall great picture!

Yes, it's not a Photon Recording on Photon Sensitive Material, hence not a Photo, ;-) bummer 'cause I would buy a 30x40 print and proudly exhibit in my space. Beautiful job, excellent creativity, surreal.

I love this image, loads. the only gripe I have is as others have stated the baby stands out to harshly if perhaps it was a shade darker and smaller, then it would be perfect.

As for should this belong on photo net... Of course!.. Thats why theres a digital alteration category!

I have suffered the low marks on digital alterations as well, frankly I think if you dont like digital artwork then dont rate it,, bypass it even..

Now theres a thought for the mods of photo.net..

Not only have a porno (nudes) filter but a digital alterations filter as well, so those that believe it is below them wouldnt even need to know..

I absolutely loved the piece until I scrolled down and found the baby. The babe seems to be out of place. Not really part of the moment or the couple, just kinda there, an afterthought. I'd almost like to see a piece where the babe is worked into the couple to show a family if that is the baby's purpose.

I think your tree couple is very organic and reminds me of a myth I once heard where a couple becomes two different trees that come together and the end up being together forever.

Well I guess at some point all the nay sayers will accept this as a photo, someday. Maybe it will be for a new generation to define, as we have with cooking with a microwave, or using CDs or cell phones.

The truth is a photo was never "reality", but how we wanted to present it. Dodge, burn and adding grain, all were alterations.

OH MY GOD, but now they have the CLONE TOOL!!!

NOW.... it's not a photo. LOL

I hope the people who think this is not a photo have fun living in their little box. God forbid we step out and give praise to a wonderful work of art.

7/7

I don't think I can add anything to what has already been said. I agree that the baby is a bit distracting and not on the level as the rest of the image. But beyond that, a marvelous work! Such vision and execution is worthy of great respect and congratulations on a superb artwork

For years and years and years many people believed that if a photograph wasn't black and white that it was not art.

Now it has to a be a straight photo or it has no merit? I don't believe so. Photography is evolving and it is not only OK, but it is wonderful!

I wonder how some of the people who feel that this is not a photo feel about Jerry Uelsman's work? Or Joel Peter Witkin? Or Mark Colman? Or Lorette Lux?

Nice work Dieter! Keep on going!

A great and a little scary composition. Sepia tones are excellent! Very creative.
