This is an image of the ancient Packhorse Bridge (built 1717) at Carrbridge in the

Highlands of Scotland.

Please let me know what you think - your comments are always appreciated.

Regards

Paul.

At first I was willing to concede that the manipulation enhanced the photo but the more I looked at this image the more the brown curves under the bridge intruded into the photo. I assume your attempt was to mimic a rainbow but while your attempt is original it's too intrusive for me.

you have payed great detail to every corner of the photo (the mist, the sky, the bridge, the foilage) and it shows...time well spent i'd say

HI Paul, It is a very nice corner, and well developed according to colors. It gives a touch of mystery to the image, especialy the light from behind. I think you can be considered a photo historian.........and I'm serious, you do marvels with all those old places.

Realy glad to see you back. Pnina

I like the photo, but I don't think the rainbow effect works for me, as is the case with the blurred backround. I'd like to see a different version of this photo.

Thanks to all for your comments and suggestions for improvement. To be honest I'm not so wild about the rainbow effect now I've looked at this for a while. That will probably go. I was trying to add more interest under the bridge and emphasize the curve of the archway. I'll perhaps post another version here without the rainbow in due time. Thanks again for taking the time to comment. Regards Paul.

I love the details and the rainbow under the bridge. The upper left corner is unnecessarily light. Regards.

A beautiful image. I really like the composition, lighting, and mist in the trees. Top right is maybe just a tad too bright, but not so much to really hurt the photo. Good work and thanks for rating one of my submissions.

Very nice content. I love old "ruins" like this. Very orriginal idea to incorporate a rainbow under the bridge. nice job.

Simply wonderful! I am not a professional photographer but I do enjoy beautiful pictures. Ones that evoke an emotion within me are beyond great and this has captured my senses with mystery. I have read the comments about the 'rainbow', I disagree. To me this is a magical photo nearly conjuring up fairies. Allow me to repeat, Simply Wonderful!

Nice picture - but the rainbow is very distracting! It?s impossible to see a rainbow if you look towards the sun! Too artificial!!

I'm surprised at the high marks this is getting (as you may be yourself with the agreement that the rainbow should go). Like Andreas said, the rainbow is far too artificial. They would be always opposite the sun. They need water (if it's there I'd be surprised). And their perspective to the viewer would be entirely different. Take away the rainbow, and your left with an image not much different from your average tourist photo. More interesting lighting would help I think. Anyhow, I hope no offense is meant. This just doesn't do it for me and the ratings baffle me.

Well again - thank you to everybody that has taken the time to rate. I am somewhat startled by the number of high ratings - I do agree about the rainbow being too false - that said - it was added more to highlight the curvature of the bridge and in an attempt to bring further light to the central part of the photo. It was never my intention to make it look like the rainbow was natural - please! Having said all that I do like the photograph and certainly don;t think it deserves to be called not much more than a tourist shot - have you seen the typical (or even postcard) tourist shots of this bridge? Not inspirting. I felt that this image at least has far better composition, lighting and time / effort put into it to make the scene more attractive than it really is. I'm with you on the Rainbow - I'm not in so much agreement about the overall quality of the shot.

Regards Paul.
