sepia youth

This is the day the model in this picture turned 21, in Vatican city .... Freezing youth with a click of a shutter...... a ironic tribute to immortality..

Excellent image as is but just a few suggestions if I may. This image can stand a bit more brightening and contrasting (unless the faded look is intentional) and perhaps a bit more sharpening.. Selective sharpening mind you.. Sharpen the hair, clothes perhaps the eyes a bit.. Brighten the whites in the eyes have them contrast the blacks better. Over all the image looks flat and dimensionless (missing is that sense of depth that comes from shooting from any angle other than the orthogonal) If you notice Amar?s portraits, they are rarely shot flat.. Other than that the portrait is beautiful beautiful.. she looks amazing, her eyes speak volumes.. One more little thing, nit picking really but the clutter behind her left shoulder could be cloned away to make the composition a bit stricter. Itching to see more from you Mrs. Von Trapp :)

Hey vikram, thanks for the comment. I wanted the picture to have an old faded look. A couple of years ago I stumbled on my some old family photos, the one I liked the most was a picture of my mother, in B/W with a tint of faded aging. Well I cant really explain the picture or the feel in words but the one word that comes close to it would be " simply beautiful". Thats why I wanted this picture to look faded, may be make it look even a decade older. Am a sucker for stories and I love a picture which gives an illusion of a story behind it, a sense of Romantic Idealism some how the present can never conjure up as the past does.Makes sense? But I would like to experiment on the selective sharpness you were talking about. And about the depth, I wish I would go back to the 14th of April to re shoot it so next time around i will have it stored behind my right brain, but thanks for all the comment ...and taking your time out ... "thanks" - Mrs Maria Von Trapp (ahem ahem)
