mark anthony 0 Posted June 20, 2004 I like the picture but I do think that the large dark area at the bottom, with the title does spoil it a lot. It would be nice to see this with a normal frame all round, and the title just put as normal on a picture. It is a very good picture though. On first glance I thought it was a beach photo.. sarahunderhill 1 Posted June 20, 2004 Hi Max, You have put up some great photos the last few days. I think the black frames work well. Great work as always! Link to comment
mondiani 0 Posted June 20, 2004 You can sharpen the rust... it looks a bit blurred (maybe it is a compression/upload issue) ___________________________________Mondiani party event photographer Link to comment
wenger 0 Posted June 21, 2004 I like rust photos, and this is one of the better ones I've seen. The bubbling from the burning adds a lot. I agree with losing the large black area with the title. Nice work. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted June 21, 2004 That's one of your finest image, in my humble opinion. I really like the transition from the rusted off top, through the peeling, to the almost normal right-hand bottom corner... it's a great diagonal motion. A truly minor detail which I happen to like less are the two half-cut bubbles on the bottom of the frame: I would have preferred them both in. Cheers, Link to comment
geo sun 0 Posted June 21, 2004 at 1st look, it seemed to me like a wierd US map with Florida at the center bottom. Nice work. Leave a lot of room for imaginations. Link to comment
photomd 0 Posted June 22, 2004 Daring. Original. I love the colors. I reminds me of the southeastern part of the US map. Regards. Link to comment

ljk 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Max!! how wonderful! I was so pleased to see that you were the author of the POW! I love this whole series...your design sense is spot on, and you have an innate penchant for color. Congratulations!! Link to comment
oskar_ojala 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Very nice color palette. The image is somewhat reminiscient of some computer generated images while maintaining a photographic quality to it. Would you mind posting a small version of the image unedited, straight from the camera? I'd be interested to see the difference between the camera's literal interpretation and your artistic interpretation. Link to comment
max zappa 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Whoa, thanks yall. I gotta say I was more than a little surprised at being notified by photo.net that one of my images has been selected as POW. You will note from my portfolio that I took several images from a burnt out "builders skip" (thats what we call em in the UK), which proved to be really interesting, providing many opportunities for variations on an abstract theme. It was like discovering a pot of gold, I was licking my lips at the prospect of taking some shots. I had decided to walk around my local town on a quiet Sunday afternoon, just to seek out objects or things of interest to shoot, when I came across the subject. It just goes to show how ordinary everyday objects, even rubbish, can be viewed as Art. I welcome all your comments and critiques, good or bad. Thanks Max ZAPPA. Link to comment
ugo_di_pace1 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Max, You have to see the "Grande Gretto" of Alberto Burri, an italian painter who burned & rusted his painting. Burri has been one of the best painter of the last century. ciao, ugo di pace Link to comment
