rustys pics 3 Posted June 19, 2004 You're getting quite good! You've pared down all the good elements of your photography and gotten rid of the superfluous stuff. The hand motif keeps growing...that ring really draws me in. Because it's blurry and amorphous my mind tries to figure it out. A lion's head? Some obscure goddess? Better for me not to know, but to try and figure out. The strongest element here is the woman's eye. Staring out, really intense like a burning coal. You placed her slighty off centre too, so she feels pushed over to the side of the frame. This makes a really dynamic composition. You should get this thing printed out at 16 x 20 inches, or at least 11x17. It's a real stopper! Link to comment
suchitra 0 Posted June 19, 2004 the Ring is a Hidden god, it is a facial reproduction of Lord Venkateswara, and a Latin cross on the neck. Sorry i helped you out, i figured it was going to be a tad bit hard for you to figure it out:) Link to comment
suchitra 0 Posted June 22, 2004 this is a b/w slow speed shutter experiment ... i would like you critique please Link to comment
the grey house 0 Posted June 22, 2004 Astounding work. I was drawn to this straight away from the Critique page. This image stands out as experimental with real quality and thought. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Regards Paul. If interested you can view my latest submission here Link to comment
cub 0 Posted June 22, 2004 I do not like, IMO the scan is bad, and the photo is to out of focus. Does not work for me at all Link to comment
tony_p4 1 Posted June 22, 2004 Sadly high grain never seems to go down very well on PN. Happily I like ultra clean to very high grain look pictures. The grain has worked very well here transforming a straight forward portrait into an abstract. The shutter effect has provided just enough movement to give this a life of its own. It needs to be looked at and and studied by the viewer, not just given a quick glance. Link to comment
lallisig 0 Posted June 22, 2004 Interesting effect you achieved here but one thing I dont like about this shot is that you cant make out here eye. Link to comment
raj 0 Posted December 4, 2004 Contrary to many people here, I liked the blur. Something different and artistic also thought provoking. Keep it up! Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Suchi, although I rated this last year, I don't remember it at all. But as I was perusing, I noticed how this stood out. Interesting experiment. For some reason it has a dark look to it even it isn't so dark. Link to comment
