F5. ISO 200. Tighter crop. Blurred the background some and darkened background using curves.

Version 2. Cropped tighter. Blurred the background some as well as

the foreground and also darkened using curves. Does this work better

than the previous version?

Compositionally much more interesting. Definitely an improvement. A bit more separation between Heimlich (keep him bright, darken the branch) and the branch that he's on, will further enchance it, I think.

Thanks for all the thoughts and comments. I will owe each of you more credit than myself by the time this one is done. Oddly, This one got the EXACT same average as the first one. LOL.

Great photo, Joe. The adjustments you made seemed to do the trick. I'll second the 'good to better' comment... well done.

I like that one more than the other one. The only suggestion to you is to reconsider framing. You take good photos. which don't actually need such double framing. This distracts attention too much from the photo itself.

Cheers

Thanks Pawel. Framing is such a curious thing to me. I have tried all sorts of different frames and much like selling the actual pieces themselves, I have discovered that you can not please everyone. I have just landed on this frame as a generic. I may even go simplar still. I like your frames and they are pretty simple. Who knows... thanks for the thoughts.

I like a lot this photo. Wellcomposed, great light in so hard condition, perfect contrast. I love the diagonal line. P.S. i like this frame too.
