sarahkane 0 Posted June 14, 2004 what a beautiful photograph... the harmony of stormy clouds with an earth toned ground, and the perspective are wonderful!! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 14, 2004 Huge open expanses of space, still used by people to cater to their needs... fantastic image, great use of perspective... my vote is to leave the foreground - such beautiful texture and line in the grass gives the endless space context. Link to comment
jmontgomery 0 Posted June 14, 2004 I like the contrast of the open space and the power lines very much! Did you try any other shots ... perhaps with the gate closer in the foreground? Thanks for the posting. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted June 15, 2004 Thank you all for the feedback. I did take other shots up close to the gate, but this is the one that I like best. With the gate close, the feeling of a vast expanse is lost. So I guess that cropping the foreground is not going to happen. Link to comment
jmontgomery 0 Posted June 15, 2004 I absolutely agree with the expansive feeling of this shot ... and glad to know that the other shot just didn't work ... but you tried it! Link to comment
michael_ritchie 0 Posted June 15, 2004 This is just a great shot. Two worlds colliding! The natural and man-made. I love the way wires disappear into the low clouds. As a matter of fact I must say your whole portfolio is truly inspirational. Link to comment
paul pinkley 0 Posted June 15, 2004 The power lines lead you into the photo well and the clouds add drama to the whole scene Link to comment
roland_ehrlich2 0 Posted June 15, 2004 Perfect, would give a great poster or backlit transparent. When clicking at the thumbnail in the gallery I expected someone would suggest a crop - and there it was ;-) Every cropping would reduce the feeling of emptiness. Link to comment

wilana 0 Posted July 6, 2008 Here is another example of the power of simplicity. Love the textures on the ground and how the lines guide the eyes to the lone subject. Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted December 13, 2008 Beautiful barrens captured very nicely. The sense of vastness and space is palpable. This would be a compelling image without the powerlines -- with them it is top notch. I like the warmth your white balance has given here too. Link to comment
