spohn 1 Posted June 14, 2004 3 second exposure at sundown. This part of the river is only a few hundred meters from where the river empties into Lake Superior. Suprisingly, the fog was as dense as it appears from around the bend in the photo - almost like it was being pumped by a Hollywood fog machine. Link to comment

thomas_werner 0 Posted July 12, 2004 The mood is awsome. However, the end result is picture with very low contrast. The rocks on the bottom left are sharp and contrasted but the trees on the top right are washed out. The smoke is just everywhere and out of control. If it were just on the water it would have been better, rebalancing the sharpness of the rocks with crisp trees. Perhaps you should try this one in color. The human eye has the propensity to spend more time on color pictures and is consequently willing to understand more what's going on the print. In black and white, we tend to take quick looks and the first impression is what matters. Link to comment
spohn 1 Posted July 14, 2004 Thanks for the insightful comments, I really appreciate them. It does kind of look like a photo that was taken out of the developer tray too early :-) Although I captured exactly what I was intending (very unusual for me) it's tough for me to view in a completely objective context after the fact. And from that standpoint, I agree with your comments. Thanks again! Link to comment
spohn 1 Posted July 14, 2004 Oops, not sure why I insisted on calling you "Richard" in the previous email - sorry! I also added the color version just for grins - click here to see it. Thanks again! Link to comment
