i like the composition and the lighting in this shot save for the man's face in the foreground. i would like to see a few more details and more light there. if you have PS CS, perhaps using the shadow/highlights tool on the face might help. other than that, this shot works quite well.

Hi Hasim,

thank for your comments. I agree with you but let me say that I did not try to adjust the photo. I don't like too much b/W on video and also I'm not really able to manage it. I scanned this Tmax 400 with a coolscan V ED but I don't like too much the result. Is it better to start with a color film and go to BW by PS or go straight to BW film? Did you have other suggestion for the scan process and postprocessing?

More over let me say that I prefer Tri-X or HP5...more contrast.

Thank You

Paolo

Paolo, i also have a coolscan V, but have only scanned color slides and negatives - never b&w. oddly enough, all the pictures that i take which i like enough to scan get converted to b&w! i would ask your question on the film/processing or digital darkroom forums or another place, for i unfortunately do not have an answer. i would think that b&w film can record more tonality differences so perhaps to begin with you have more info there. but, that's just a guess. i know some scanners are not as good as others with respect to black/white scanning. idk how well the V does. good luck with your search, and let me know what you find. cheers, asim.
