Bumble-bee in a poppy flower

test11664875106

1/80, f/2.8, cable release, tripod, 1B filter on the lens, about 1 hour before sunset, metering on red +2/3 stops; scanned with Minolta Dimage Dual II in 16bit mode and I tried to reproduce colors as much closer to the original slide as possible (slide is indeed very vibrant)

As flowers are turned to the sun, does empty upper right corner work

in composition of this photo? Is it appropriate to use shallow DOF

here? What is your overall feeling?

Nice composition Ilia, the vibrant reds are very pleasing ----empty space is not distracting!! It helps draw the eye to the in focus bloom with the bumblebee!!
