The Stone Tree

This is the stone tree in the Altiplano, Bolivia... It's on an

altitude of 5000 meters high and it's very cold there!!! But o so

beautifull!!

I like a lot the composition.

 

The picture would have been stunning in a slightly less harsh light, some details of the stone tree are a bit washed out... can some level adjustment fix this?

Excellent shot but your frame is WAY to big. It distracts from your photograph which is an excellent shot that reminds me of Dali. But the thick black frame just overwhelms the onlooker. Half it, something like 40 pixels but not more.

I'm afraid I cannot fix the washed out detail with photoshop... The lighting on the Altiplano is very difficult, exactly what you said: harsh light. I did some fixes with curves, but I could not fix that, because of the lack of colordata in the JPEG. It might have been better if I shot the photo on RAW, not in JPEG.

I think the harshness tend contribute to the mood of the pic - it is rather harsh there, isn't it?

Yes it is, and the black shadows are a nightmare ;-)
