Bronzewing

seven

I saw (& heard!) this bird fly into a window with incredible force. I rushed over in an attempt to revive it, the creature died in my hands unfortunately. The photo was taken about two minutes after its departure - and now it lives on.....

Excellent composition and exposure!! The plight of the bird made me very sad but your words of sympathy and your attitude towards that made me feel better. I love so many photos here, would love to comment on all but that would make my 'mission' of visiting all PT members a lot longer :-) well, not all of 'em today. Thanks again for your initiative with 'Picture This'!! It is such a breath of fresh air! I am enjoying it a lot.

Thank you for your visit and kind words, Chitra. This is just one of those images that made itself, the bird came to me - it seldom happens but when it does it makes me wonder about all the effort we put into making images. I've taken tens of thousands of pics with compact digitals, but Bronzewing was one of the easiest, and is also my favourite.

I'm glad you've joined Picture This and hope you enjoy yourself. All the best, Seven.

Seven, took me an hour to arrive here, but I did not want to read other evaluation, in order to write my net impression, and for me it looks like a "slide" under a microscope that shows the details like moleculs...I like the receding colors and forms diagonaly from strong on the lower right side till the gray on the upper left. If you don't know the story behind, it can be a mysterious abstract. No wonder someone was ready to make it his own....

Thanks Pnina - it was very strange when this opened in the computer after I took it - it felt soft from the feathers, but there was also the suggestion of "steel" from the colours. When I wanted to adjust it - but couldn't decide what was needed - I used the various PS auto settings like Curves and Levels > and there was no change, so the exposure remained always as how it came off the card.

It is not the first time it has been stolen! But I agree, it is a form of flattery and I am in touch with Yahoo! but there is so much bureaucracy involved.

(This is the easiest of my photos to trace online because of the name, there are very few photos with Bronzewing in the title : the bird is not found outside Australia.)
