Bronzewing

I saw (& heard!) this bird fly into a window with incredible force. I rushed over in an attempt to revive it, the creature died in my hands unfortunately. The photo was taken about two minutes after its departure - and now it lives on.....

Never knew a few features can look sooo beautiful. The white and the colors blend together so well - purity and life.

BTW - what kind of bird was it (or should i say "is it")?

Once again I look at this photograph, and still it draws me to it again and again, the colours of nature, the eye of you and the accident that brought you to take this, still has lots of appeal, good photo Seven, well done

The beautiful colours and textures, and the original approach to a "nature" subject, make this a truly stunning image. One of the best I have seen. Take pride in a great achievement!

Six months after I originally rated this I run back into it and it strikes me again as the most spectacular image I've seen on this site. The only 10/10 I've givin. Still beautiful.

Having picked up a few injured birds myself, I can relate to your experiences, Seven. And this photograph is simply stunning. Can't we expand the rating to 20/20 for shots like this one?

Daren, thanks. Yes, I just used the available outdoor lighting - it was overcast but fairly bright. Cheers.

Great composition! In India, white is the color of funerals...for me, this photo suggests death (white) encroaching on life (colors). Too bad about the pigeon's sacrifice...

The entire portfolio is impressive for it's good design and color sense. But this photo is truly superb! Beautiful work.

I agree with all the above comments. A beautiful photo with a touching story behind it. I too would like to see the broader view, but perhaps it is best left to the imagination in this case, picturing a majestic beast.

Hi my fine feathered friend. This is a beautifull photo. Great deal of detail in the feathers. I want to square it up a bit to make the diagonals more prominent. But, I don't want to lose the top lovely soft grey colors either. Hmmmmm 6 of one, half dozen of another. Probably best just as is. You seem to have a record number of comments on here.
