toni_paloheimo 0 Posted August 3, 2001 I think the photo really works! You have been able to catch the situation very lively. The man in his suit coming out from the joint with warm rolls in the paper bag and on the other hand the man outside warming up his cold hands wishing he could switch places with the other man... And thats not all! It is really a photo that one could "read" for a long time. Link to comment
GerrySiegel 868 Posted August 5, 2001 The black man tells a story of underdressed, cold and maybe in need of food, shelter, I don't know. The other gent in the J.C. Penney's black and out of fashion trench coat, I am not sure about. I can't see his face. Don't know whether he is carrying a couple of pretzels to his job cataloging books in the bowels of the NY Public Library. A faceless enigmatic man exiting a low rent coffee shop with no signage. So,drew, it's a mixed plate for me. Street photography is tough, and I don't do it. See Tony Dummet's haunting image of an alcoholic from the 70's. It stirs the blood. Thanks for the opportunity to comment on your photo.GS Link to comment
michaeljames 0 Posted August 20, 2001 What first strikes me about this photograph is that the old man is hungry (i.e. - he was hungry for lunch, so he went to the local shop like he does every day when his belly aches). Then the person on the left is hungry too, only a different hungry, where he hasn't eaten in 3 days. Link to comment
