Nick, the sky was covered in thick monsoon clouds when the shot was taken soon after the shower. In a way, I was interested in capturing the gloomy side of it with some clouds still clinging to the hills. Thanks for the observation, all the same.

..I would post an almost similar picture taken in Kalimpong which is more darker ( late evening) with lots of cloud hence I do not mind darkness if it is visually appealing . Where are you from , where are you at present and what camera you used here ? And call me Tuhin .

I'm from Himachal Pradesh, Tuhin, and this monsoon picture is of my native village in a place called Chamba. I work in the Middle East and trekking rather than photography is my major passion. I go home every summer with my very modest Sony S50 digital camera and try to capture with it whatever appeals to me. You are a gifted photographer and I admire your work. Thanx for your comments.

Wow! What a beautiful place to grow up! It looks so peaceful but you can still guess the heavy rainfall that took place just before. I think the darkness of the picture reflects the situation just perfectly. Keep up the good work!

Ram, a wonderful view! The composition is good with the diagonal lines of the roof, the buildings, and the clouds. The depth is given by the closer roofs and the recession to the hills suggests the distance. I like it very much. As you were pointing the camera down a little whem you took this shot there is some perspective distortion making the buildings in the middle look as though they are sloping backwards. No one else has mentioned this so this may just be me! but I would straighten it up in PS. I have uploaded what I mean and you can judge for yourself whether it is an improvement or not! Hope you do not mind - and it is a very good shot as it is.

Thanks, Colin, for your constructive critique. Now that you have pointed it out, I see the distortion. Thanks for setting it right. I'll upload your version shortly. Regards.
