Thanks for the comments. The water is a bit subdued due to the low light. These New Zealand lakes are the most amazing colours. I'll post some other shots showing the lake during the day soon.

Very good. But I think, that crop from the right is not good. It seems to cut the ground, that go to the water. Maybe crop more, near the tree?

Amazing light, and a great shot! I might have cropped half the bottom blue off and a slight touch off the top. Did you use an graduated neutral density filter? I'll be looking for more of your shots.

Thanks for all the comments. I did use a grad to control the sky. From memory, it would have been a 3 stop soft Lee filter.

Jeff,

that's a masterpiece control of colours and exposition. I can just dare commenting on some very personal base. I might have liked to shot more of the ridge to the right and get the tree more to the left and the church more to the right.

Or would this have gotten cars and the alike? I seem to remember, from my pit-stop there in horrible lights, that there was quite a structure more to the right...

Salvatore,

This was my third night at Lake Tekapo, and the only one when the carpark was empty. I actually sat in a restaurant watching the light develop, and was able to be there in time to get this shot without ruining dinner.

The church really set the shot and the need to exclude a lump of ugly road while getting the wonderful light on the hills. Here is the view to the right http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2218453

I understand/remember the place from where you shot, then, and I understand the framing.

Actually, in the sunset shot, the effect of the car park is reduced.

Did you consider square-cropping it?

Cheers,

The cropping is from the bottom only. I wanted as much of the hills as possible. As you can see from my other shots I am partial to squares.
