OK, Kevin. You already know your shot won't get any prizes but you want to know why. Well, technically, although you shot in macro, you could have got more of the subject in focus. And especially when you have text on an object the eye expects it to be in focus, or mostly in focus. There are ways to improve closeup focus that I couldnt begin to start on. Now, is a Marlboro pack interesting? I don't know. R.J.Reynolds may think so. But without some other element, I don't "see anything:-anything visually interesting in your shot. A closeup composition has to have something to make the eye work, just like a landscape. What draws you in, see what I mean. And the Marlboro package is expected to be a blaze of color. That is its main claim to advertising fame. By shooting it in B and W or changing it digitally, my eye says "Whoah, that's the famous Marlboro pack, what the f--ck happened to the color?. Normally I don't respond to teasers like Does This Suck, but since you asked, yes it sort of does and that is why I think it sucks. Thanks for opportunity to help your self esteem for the day:-) Sincerely, GS

Sorry, but Gerry has just about said it all. One final thing though- if you're going to do a "product shot" make sure the name of the product is in focus (unless striving after an effect). The "M" of Marlboro is NOT in focus.
