Perhaps the hat and the background should have been different colours?

She insisted on the hat since her hair wasn't quite the way she wanted it to look. As for the background, I thought the dark blue would make a nice contrast to her skin tone. That's just my opinion of course :) Thank you very much for the comment though.

You should definately crop a bit from the right! Not bad, although I would reccomend at least a bid of soft focus for this much contrast.
