Shot taken during an international sidecar motocross in the Netherlands. After photographing that day there was as much sand in my camera like there was on the track....lol....My camera luckely did survive it.Proframe Photography

Truly awesome! Looks like a scene out of Mad Max. It might just have the qualities for POW. Good luck!

The image is hard enough to capture, and then with composition and manipulation you've made art, a very difficult thing to do out of a motocross, bravo!

Effective isolation of colorful racers from monotone background, really striking. A really subtle element is the slight tilt of the craft thus providing "tension" which really connects with viewers. Sharpness is execellent. IS0 50 with 300 2.8 wide open isn't as difficult in terms of available light (unless you're hand holding it!) but decision to zone focus or use AF tracking is tricky due to flying debris all over can be tricky (I'd imagine,) and keeping the front element clean is probably impossible! Great job.

I think this is a magnificent example of succeeding under difficult conditions in the "real world." The moment is intriguing, the composition well done. I particularly admire the ability to capture the range of colors and tones in a way that allows the colors both vibrancy and depth, but does not blow out the highlights. Harry, any help understanding how you did that would be wonderful.

I agree that this is a great shot, but isn't the brown background pretty much cloned in?

It's not that I have anything against that - because it does strengthen the presentation

quite a bit - I'm just curious.

If I sit and look long enough, the compression artifacts start to bother me...but that's only because I'm looking for something to whine about. The photo itself is incredible, dynamic, and gripping. Nicely done.

I think it's a great action photo. I say so having just returned from a trip to the Grand Prix of Canada I know how hard it is to capture the moment at events like this. Great job! My only criticism would be that the white of the helmets and their clean surface contrasts to strongly against the background making it "appear" a bit unnatural. Was this photoshoped in? -N

Please correct me if this is wrong. I think the background has irregularities and also artefacts near the arm, which lead me to suspect Photoshop work. If this is right, it would mean that the touch-up work could be better. But I like the picture very much otherwise.

You can see obvious photoshop work outlining the riders. I think this is a decent capture, but a poor job of hiding the true background of the photo.

As you can see here on this attachment, this is one huge clone stamp session in photoshop. This should more accurately be categorized as a digital manipulation... Cool image non-the-less.
