ann teak 0 Posted November 20, 2004 Greetings - The Elves are right on point when they call this image "cleaver and simple", two admirable qualities that I enjoy. Nice pick. Ms G.: I can't comment on the technical photography stuff like you can (I'm a stark raving beginner), but I strongly agree with your statement that sometimes artists try too hard to convey meaning when what REALLY counts is the personal experience of the viewer-listener-reader. However, where you find the image balanced as-is, for me, seeing the folds on the left side would be a plus. Keep up the good work, Mr. Walthall. All the best. Link to comment
root 0 Posted November 20, 2004 Barry, As you know, I've enjoyed your work from the first day you signed on. I would have expected a variety of responses to your abstract setups and hoped you'd break your vow of silence since your return to shed some light on this. Link to comment
chad_jarvis1 0 Posted November 20, 2004 Obviously influenced by Francis Bruguière, who spend a good portion of his creative life cutting and folding paper for VERY SIMILAR effects. Of course he didn't have access to a digi camera and PhotoShop. Link to comment
jason_wolffe 0 Posted November 21, 2004 Evocation of the spirit through the eye. Is that not what photography is all about? Simplicity is very hard to understand, let alone master. Do I hear 8? Link to comment
max zappa 0 Posted November 21, 2004 A simple concept, beautifully executed. Your portfolio is most excellent too. Congratulations on photo of the week, richly deserved. Max Zappa Link to comment

1000wordsphotography 0 Posted November 22, 2004 I have always enjoyed these shots. As far as POW... all I can say is ... about darn time! Please keep the creativity coming. A heartfelt congratulations to you sir! Link to comment
h_kan_th_rngren 0 Posted November 22, 2004 The impression I get is computer graphics, not a photo. Could work if printed properly, but does not really work for me (as a photo) on the computer screen. Link to comment
root 0 Posted November 22, 2004 IMHO, all images on photo.net should be imagined as prints for the purposes of rating and discussion. I doubt that anyone who sees this image as easier or somehow more appropriately executed as a computer graphic rather than an arrangement of paper on a light table has experience with either one.
