mg 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Finally a cat's portrait that really stands out. The lighting may have been helped with PS as well as the colors, but I really can't tell exactly which area was manipulated. Very successful. I'd be interested to know more about the exact manipulations that took place here. Regards. Link to comment
jeff d 1 Posted May 28, 2004 Amazing. Great composition. This one is a keeper. I am impressed that you found a way to take the typical cat photo and you turned it into an art form. Bravissimo! Sorry if my Italian is not so bellissimo. Link to comment
morris_eaddy 0 Posted May 28, 2004 What i like about it is that it looks very real... i can't tell where the picture was manipulated. Well done! Link to comment
peterbilitch 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Mario, A truly excellent picture. The colours and the use of light all blend together so well. As one begins to look into the eyes, the picture demands closer scrutiny, it is really quite mesmerising... Peter Link to comment
doug_de_la_torre 0 Posted May 28, 2004 I've wanted to capture the eyes of my cat, but it is so darned HARD. They move when the eyes are open, and when they are sleepy and not moving, the eyes are closed. To capture such gorgeous eyes, and then to have such a dynamic background makes this a truly amazing photo. Simply beautiful. Link to comment

tomasz_bruszewski 0 Posted May 28, 2004 great job :) I'm working as a graphic designer - I saw many tousands of pictures, but I didn't saw so perfect shot like this. I'm very impressed!!! I wish you more success, greatings... Link to comment
mario_grgic 0 Posted May 28, 2004 However, this looks Photoshopped and edited. The transition from sharp grass in the forground to the blurred grass on the left of cat is very sudden (There is a clear demarcation line). The eyes seem to have a bit of grass pattern added to them as well. And, surprisingly no wide angle lens distortion at all (as if the cat image was overlayed to the grassy field). Not withstanding all this, it's a catchy image and excellent work. Link to comment

richard_mutt 0 Posted May 28, 2004 I would like to hear about the manipulations as well before commenting further. Link to comment
yorick 0 Posted May 28, 2004 very un-natural stare - did you change the eyes? The cut-off around the fur must have taken a lot of work - but why bother? I'm not a cat fan, but I do think they should look natural, if you must photograph them. This gives me a creepy feeling. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted May 29, 2004 Whether you love it or hate it, this is very eye-catching and is drawing a lot of attention. I think you have accomplished something with this composition. As for me, I'm in the "love it" category. Link to comment
mariospalla 0 Posted May 29, 2004 I like your idea! ...specially the reflex on the eyes...but not for the tree.... Thanks Val! Link to comment
