miles_hecker 0 Posted May 26, 2004 One of the prettiest arches in Utah. It's located in an area known as Devil's Kitchen. All critiques and comments are welcome. Link to comment
witolda_maruszewska 0 Posted May 26, 2004 This is nice... I love the way you've captured the warmth of the light and how it brings out the tones and textures in the rock. A well-composed shot full of visual interest and contrasts - the plant in the immediate foreground really makes the whole thing work. Well done, this has got the *pop* of a top quality shot. laurent_baig 0 Posted May 26, 2004 Isn't Utah just the coolest place? I think it should be part of Arizona. This is a great shot! Makes me want to go for a walk! Link to comment
r_s7 0 Posted May 26, 2004 Its great how you chose the right rocks to put in the frame, I also like the blue sky with the yellowish/brownish rocks..good job Link to comment

donpaulson 0 Posted May 26, 2004 Nicely done compostion! I have a similar photo in my southwest portfolio, but yours has a more interesting sky. Link to comment

peter_daalder 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Yes, the sky... Being a bit of a sky/cloud addict, I can appreciate that it can make all the difference. Very nice composition and lovely warm (early morning/late afternoon) light. Link to comment
marshall 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Great color and a wonderful sky. Looks like you had a great day there and made the most of it. I quite like the framing you've chosen - well, I must like it, as I tried a similar shot. Yours is making me wish I'd had something larger than 35mm with me! It couldn't possibly matter less, but I thought the area was more commonly called "Devil's Garden", and the arch is called Metate Arch. Nice work. Enjoy. Link to comment
miles_hecker 0 Posted May 28, 2004 You are quite right Marshall. It is called the 'Devils Kitchen'. I must have spent too much time under the desert sun and baked one too many neurons. :-0 Link to comment
chris_hulett 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Nice shot. People who haven't been there probably don't realize what a tricky composition you pulled off here... My only critique would be that the clouds look slightly magenta. Amazing place for sure. Link to comment
leighperry 0 Posted May 29, 2004 Gorgeous exposure, Miles. Lovely composition within the frame proportions, too. The only distraction is the vegetation at left, but I don't know that there is much that can be done about it. I tried a crop but unfortunately it surrenders the 'chunky' 4:3 format to a thinner format which I like less. Given the compromises, I think you got it right. Link to comment
go 0 Posted May 29, 2004 light in this photo is really amazing, i love the colors, the shadows... great capture. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted July 3, 2004 I'm curious why people feel the need to eliminate vegetation in these rock formation images. I like the added contrast in texture and color myself. Link to comment
evphotography 0 Posted September 6, 2008 Great shot, love the way you used the warm and cool tones. Beautiful composition. Well done Miles! Link to comment
2Oceans 224 Posted March 28, 2009 Miles, this is a very three dimensional image that the complimentary nature of its colors extenuates along with the great DOF. Well done. I enjoyed your web site. Good hunting. Andy Link to comment
Yves Petronin 42 Posted February 23, 2010 Magnificent picture, with the golden tones.... Link to comment
