tom_menegatos 0 Posted July 27, 2001 -->Comments I was a bit bored so I thought I'd try this out and see what happened :) As I said in another post this will get deleted when I'm done having fun. -- Tom Menegatos nice, butt...haha, anyway, the right side couch is distracting. my eye wants it to be another butt - i think cause the color and tonality is so close. can that be cropped. can you get more contrast in the shot? i like your work - great span of skill, from city scapes to nudes. -- kevin finerty Yes, that couch destroys an otherwise pleasant photo. -- Vuk Vuksanovic Yeah, the couch does make you want to believe its another butt. Also, it just seems funny to me how the girl on the left is wearing something. Throws in a little contrast to the other two.Funny, I tried to post this and it posted it on another one of your photos (which I saw a while back) who knows -- Carl Smith Hey Tom, another great image. I agree that the couch is distracting and resembles some strange animal's backside. Kudos bro !! -- Gary Ell That VC is very warm isn't it. I am lucky in that in the UK I can use it and still keep my clothes on. -- Mark Crame Hmmm. Haven't gotten the response to my experiment I was waiting for. I'll keep waiting. I chose this photo because I don't think it's that impressive or that the scan is of good quality either. Remember this was meant to be funny :)Ok at least a couple of people noticed what was happening :) This was more of a joke on some of the people that just go through my new pictures and give them 1/1's.Like I said when I'm done having fun I'll delete this and this is the only photo I did this to. -- Tom MenegatosbustedHmmm. What happened? I posted about your HTML insertion as the first comment that made all ratings come up as 10 and 10. Maybe you've got a way to hide messages too. Link to comment

vuk_vuksanovic 0 Posted July 30, 2001 I've uncovered the 10/10 experiment. Whatever you did to trick the system is more clever than most of your photographs. I was able to go in and edit my rating (my experiment was to see if it would accept 1/1, even though my initial rating was much higher). Link to comment

tom_menegatos 0 Posted July 31, 2001 By the way I make no claim that the 10/10 ratings here were intended by the raters. Just fooling around trying to see how people react :) Link to comment

iwmac 0 Posted July 31, 2001 Tom, Yes, your little experiment has been discovered. We know that you changed the HTML script to change any rating on your photo to 10/10. Some people have not realized that. They have not yet realized that they can go to their workspace and edit the phony rating and give you the rating they really meant to. But you were already helping yourself along for quite a while....you have rated ALL you photos 10/10 quite a while ago, and there are also some other rather phony looking ratings. It is about time you cleaned up your act. Get rid of all the self (and phony) ratings, or are you like Aslan and Nejat, and a few others so insecure and pathetic that you have to resort to this childish stuff to make you seem like an important highly rated photographer. When all is said, some of your work is quite good. Try being honest with yourself and others and you might find there are not so many low ratings. After all, if I rate you 1/1, that combined with your 10/10 self-rating is still 5.5/5.5...and it looks as though you created a phony second Peter Wallack to offset the initial low ratings he was giving you. Your experiment would be amusing if you hadn't been cheating and lying all along. Ian Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted July 31, 2001 Yes I did create an additional peter wallack. I've admitted to that a while ago. He was the mastermind of the attack a while ago and I used that account to help out a bunch of people he was attacking. Everybody has gotten so sensitive about this whole ratings thing. Andy by the way. I've been waiting for my little experiment to get discovered. That's why I keptposting it on the forum in messages and replies. And explain to me I should remove my 10/10 ratings for my own photos? Other people are doing it. If the elves at photo.net thought it was important they would have restricted that. If they do fine but I'm not going to remove mine while others have theres. Not worth the effort. I have rated over 2000 photos and it takes me a long time to go into that page to delete my ratings. Artificially rating photos low is no better than artificially rating photos high. That's my opinion. Yours is that people shouldn't rate their own photos. On a lot of my photos I get over 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 ratings. It's not easy to affect those by cheating. And I get a lot of ratings in the 8-10 area. Some of those people are easy to prove they exist some aren't. Some people don't use the system as much as others. Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted July 31, 2001 If anyone still has any questions as to how or why I did this feel free to email me. Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted July 31, 2001 How can something be honest if you don't even give a real email address? You're a fake user yourself. You don't have a valid email address or name. You probably couldn't randomly click on a full user list without getting a fake or now invalid email address at least 40% of the time You're right photonet unconscience... why would I create those id's if I could play with the scripts? and what proof is there that I created them. I think I know who created at least some of them and one I'm sure. And I know it wasn't me. Link to comment
alex_hawley 0 Posted July 31, 2001 Tom - I guess I missed out. I rated it 2/2 hoping to see it magicaly change to 10/10 but it stayed 2/2. Good trick. Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted July 31, 2001 Unfortunately a lot of my more "creative" posts have been removed as well :) Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted July 31, 2001 Please feel free to change your ratings if you so feel. This was a lot of fun. I was going to send an email out to everyone who wound up rating this 10/10 but it appears someone has beat me to that. Link to comment
g1 0 Posted October 21, 2003 Even outside the ratings fiasco this picture has very poor light/shadows/composition/content. But I guess it wasn't supposed to be aesthetic or original. This is your worst of your work IMO, but I will bother to balance by choosing 'my considered best' also. Link to comment
