To me, here you focussed the wrong side of the flower. There's no meaning in dropping water on it if you don't visualize it.

Thanks, but I didn't drop water on the flower, the garden was soaked from overnight rain. As with a portrait, in which the near eye must be in focus or the image feels awkward, the near side of the flower dominates this picture and if it were out of focus, it wouldn't work. Many of my abstracts use OOF foregrounds, but this image just didn't lend itself to that.
