First Roll of SFX200...

Seems fairly grainy...not sure how I like it...

Thoughts?

Oh, and go ahead take your best shot at the shot. ;>)

Cheers.

This image has strong foreground interest, strong background -- great clouds. But the important thing is the decision to place the nude figure in the image. This has, for me, some initial strength, but after a while it wears thin.

I must admit that when I see images of nudes in natural settings, I am drawn not to the image but to wonder about what it was like to be in the picture. I see photos of nudes in the forest and I wonder about bugs and poison ivy.

In this case, I can't imagine this person being able to climb up on that big rock naked without skinning her knees. Maybe that's why she is facing away from the camera.

Also, the light here is not particularly flattering to her bum. I think nudes are hard to shoot, and I've seen better.

I like it except for the panty line in her right cheek. Should have had her sit around naked for a little while longer before taking the picture.

I think this is a powerful image. The sky is outstanding! I would crop the bottom half inch or so to give this more prominence and an otherworldly feeling.

The strength in this image is that it reminds me of the feeling of freedom that comes from being naked in nature. The pose emphazises that. Pantylines obviously detract. It's true about the light on the bum, it's not exactly flattering, but I don't think this image is so much about the body as a 'perfect' or 'sculptural' form, more about 'man in nature'... Lovely picture, well done.

I wrestled with the bum issue quite a bit.

I WAS going to Photoshop the perfect derriere and I did start...

It occurred to me that I was manufacturing, and what the heck, her bum DID look like that.

I put it off and left it just the way it was instead and put it up for eviceration by the critics.

Good points all.

I MAY rethink my 'reality' stance.

TKS.

I would have loved this photo in color, like the one in which she is sitting. In this one the clouds are much better.

An excellent shot, the figure symbolising the freedom to be completely involved in the landscape (similar to the intention in my "Eve" series). If it is used in this way I would be in favour of editing out some of the detail which is otherwise distracting and draws attention to the specific body. Similarly, in my "Nereid-5" photo I darkened the figure to de-emphasize the nakedness so as to focus on the whole scene.

Fantastic use of contrasts here. Only one thing bothers me though. The horizon isn't quite level. If there is one thing that you must do when using a landscape, it is to make sure that the horizon is level. Of course, this rule can be broken, but when it is so nearly level it looks like an oversight. Maybe I'm being harsh though. Nice clouds :)

I like this photo. As I waited for the page to load I saw it without the bottom of the rock and felt it was as though she were standing above the world. Losing the foreground really adds to the strength of the image. Some one else called it "other worldly" I like the reduced context, it takes the image to "another world"

If all you see is the panty line, I think you're missing the picture.

Coming back to this wonderful shot months later I was again struck by the much-commented-upon texture of the derriere distracting me from appreciating the general scene & concept. As she is playing a symbolic / iconic role I think a degree of idealization might be better than harsh reality - so I did a mdoified version - I hope you don't mind - to see if it works. ...
