asimh 0 Posted May 22, 2004 TC, i like the juxtaposition b/w the two toning techniques (though the one on the left might be the original). i actually prefer the one on the right - there's a bit more drama one this one. the only thing i might suggest is that for a dual shot/intent photo like this is to use a tripod and have the exact same physical setting in the viewfinder. here, the image on the right seems a bit tilted as compared to the one on the left. but, that is no biggie. in fact, that might be why i like the one on the right more - with the lean, it looks more dynamic, whereas the one on the left looks more rigid and upright. hopefully, that makes sense. good job! ivan colman 0 Posted May 22, 2004 These two photo's are imho too different to form a unity. Link to comment
california-seascapes-photo 0 Posted May 22, 2004 I really like your idea here along with the composition, toning and framing, but I think I agree with the others that this might be better if they were identical in composition. My eyes tend to want to go to the image on the right. Link to comment
tc_reed 0 Posted May 22, 2004 Thank you all for commenting. I will now tell you how I created drama. I actually did tilt the one on the right. I wanted to create the effect of the inbalance when I put the two side by side. The change in tone really added to the effect. Also, I slightly enlarged the size of the one on the right which makes it visually even more uncomfortable for the mind. You were all very attentive! Well done! Link to comment
michael_ritchie 0 Posted June 14, 2004 I must say that I like it! I can see what everyone means about the difference in images, I guess it's just the natural human instinct to look for balance in things. Well done for challenging that. Link to comment
tc_reed 0 Posted June 14, 2004 I prefer to look at it from the perspective of me being the rat who is being led by my technically, professionally and educationally advanced peers. How was that? ;) :) Thanks for your feedback! Link to comment
