For 10 years between 1952 and 1962, commercial whaling in Moreton

bay near Brisbane eliminated thousands of hump back whales and 1

blue whale. It only stopped because the yeild dropped, not because

of government regulations. They have another grim reminder on the

island; a harpoon which is a massive piece of barbed steel, and the

particular one they had on show was severely bent from the impact.

Makes you feel sick. The old decaying wharf still makes a nice

subject though..... all comments welcomed

Great tones, wonderful subject. The long shutter speed adds to the surrealism. I like it!

A very special image Michael. Wonderful in every way. Nice balance, lovely pastel color and a format that you know I love!

Beautiful...peaceful...like gravestones for the whales. The composition is right on, with the piles so well placed. I do find the frame too heavy on the bottom, as though it's a barrier keeping me from stepping into the scene.

Love the tranquility in this shot. Fantastic colours and crop.. the kinda shot I wish I'd taken actually :)
