hugh_hill 0 Posted June 30, 2004 When you see the eye's of a person you feel that communication is possible and yet when eyes are veiled covered it's as if a wall goes up between reasoning.Great shot I particularly like the expression of the officer in the middle he seems more human the others esp., the one on the left looks like a machine. How did you come to get the chance to photograph their training and are there any more portrait type shots? daniel hayduk 0 Posted July 4, 2004 My dad is a professor at the University of Alberta, and the police tactical team was planning on doing a mock-hostage taking in collaboration with campus security. My dad told me, I phoned the Campus Security head and asked if I could show up, he said yes... I showed up a few hours early the next day and got to know the 'higherups' in the tactical unit, and here's what I got! I will look for more portrait shots when I get the time, and will post them here on photo.net... /danielhttp://www.geocities.com/haydukphoto/ Link to comment
hugh_hill 0 Posted July 7, 2004 Well just as I expected you used your initiative and thought like a true reporter, did your research and got the names of the decision makers in order to do your work and came up with the goods. The only way that I feel that this image could benefit more is (wait for it!)with a stronger story line,,, I know you might think I'm nuts and it doesn?t need one but I feel your photo-journalist work is great and if you just practiced getting to know your subject matter (these guy's) in the little time you have by making contacts sharing common ground, learning stories etc, by applying this you can accelerate an already very good gift and I think if you work at it you could be a great photo journalist. A good trick is to carry a Dictaphone either digital or tape as you never know what you just might end up with. I will be following your progress and wish you with all sincerity the best at working your abilities to achieve maximum impact on your results. Regards ps the title carries a lot of clout and sometimes can make or break an images full potential. Link to comment
