The goal here was to capture the Malibu coastline as well as streaking head and tail lights. Using 4 stops of ND filter I effectively slowed the film speed to ISO 6.25 permitting a long exposure at dusk to capture the scene on transparancy film. Using the Fuji MS 100/1000 probably preserved color due to enhanced resiprocity index of the film. Minolta 55 mm @f11 +4 ND for 8 Min.

As I mentioned in the photo caption, my goal was to effectively slow

the fiom to permit car lights at dusk and keep enough exposure

latitude to keep the Sky, Pacific, and Beach reasonably exposed. By

adding 4 stops of ND I was able to pull some range out of Fuji RMS at

100 (effectively ISO 6.25). Do you think I can lengthen the exposure

by a stop or two to get the beach w/o loosing the car lights?

 

Initially, I didn't think the cars chasing their headlights at the

signal would work, now I think it is important. Comments?

should we assume you meant 8 seconds,since there are no car lights on opposite sides of the traffic light?...very good shot, btw

Looks like you have the technique down to stretch out the time available for a shot like this. I esp. like the effect caused by the cars stopped at the signal
