The legend that IS.. Karch Kiraly.

f1-fanatic

I am sorry I have no details.. this was taken when I was in my teens. I found the negative and scanned it from that. There is light retouching to clean scratches from over the years.. but other than that this is the original.

I found this while going through my stuff.. years after it was

taken. The image was scanned on an Epson RX500 from the original

negative. As always, any comments, suggestions or ratings would be

greatly appreciated.

Thanks -N

Excuse-me for not have commented on this photo before. It is very well executed, but I just dont like this kind of picture. Its aesthetics is not pleasant for me (even when they are very well taken like this) and Ive seen so many similar shots in the sports coverage in my country before (not exactly similar, but same idea). However, Im far from being the best critic for any picture anyway.

By the way, that rabbit picture is wonderful!

Thank you very much for your comments. Karch Kiraly is a bit of a living legend in the beach volleyball world... To capture him in concentration like this from a crowd with a 50mm f/1.2 lens was difficult at best. I appreciate you comming back to my portfolio and commenting. Thank you for your time and effort. -N

I remember when he was on the Superstars show back in the 70s. Doesn't look like he's aged much at all! Wouldn't mind seeing his face just a bit sharper but still it works well. I also like all of the sponsor adds. Makes the entire scene look lively and colorful. Good work again.

From a photographer's point of view...excellent shot...and from a Volleyball Players point of view, its just as you said, a capture of a virtual legend. I know this is just a photography forum, but something needs to be said of the subject matter too. Karch has done wonders for the sport of volleyball (Gold Medalist) and one of the foundations of the beach game as we know it. (sorry, sounding like a Volleyball Forum now) - the picture is well executed, great anticipation of action... Thanks for sharing the pic!!
