acer iddibhai on aim 0 Posted July 26, 2001 very nice, i like it a lot. just barely enough depth of field to render the forefront petals in focus, and everything else just melts away creamily. if anything, i'd have preferred the blossom slightly higher, near the upper thirds, say by shooting this not level, but slightly lower, looking up. but i'm not complaining :) Link to comment
pawel oziemblowski 0 Posted August 2, 2001 So far I've liked very technical photos - sharp with many details. Since entering PhotoNet my preferences have changed a bit. So here is an example of simple picture. However it has little critique and no rating so far , my question is: what is wrong with it? Link to comment
sam_portera 0 Posted August 2, 2001 Nothing is wrong with it. Do you like it? If so who cares what others think. Art is very very subjective. What one likes, others will most certainly dislike. The fact that nobody commented on your photo does not make it a bad photo. Keep shooting the subjects that you enjoy. Link to comment
fatboab 1 Posted August 2, 2001 Do you like this shot...? If so then it really doesn't matter what others think. There is nothing really wrong with it and I'd be quite chuffed if I'd taken it. If you were to enter it into competition though it might get some negative comments on the following. There is a light patch at the top left that you could have avoided if you'd placed the camera slightly differently. It might have been slightly better if it was on the top third line, some might consider it a bit low. The bright band of colour running through the middle is a bit distracting as it draws the eye away from the flower due to it's lightness. Nice effort though, so get back out and try again. It might be worth carrying some green card with you that you can put behind flowers like this so you can control the background if it's a bit messy. Well done. Link to comment
