naren_wilks 0 Posted May 14, 2004 this is incredible! but.. why not just paint this? you've gone to all that effort to make it look like one.. i dunno, i think this is beautiful work but i know it's a photo and i therefore i question its authenticity, it looks like a painting! but it's not... then again if you do paint this it still won't be a painting, it will be a painting of a photo that looks like a painting, not a painting of a tree. so no, ignore me, leave as it is (thinking out loud here) this is great work! sallymckay-lepage 0 Posted May 14, 2004 Naren hey thanks for commenting. If your interested take a look at an image I did for Picture This called the weigh in. I think the comments below the image might better suggest my reasons for this kind of manipulation. Picture This by the way is a group of people who get together to critique each other's work. I was fortunate enough to join just recently. Postings are made anonymously under the PT umbrella but i guess I can own up to this one seeing as how the critique stage is over. The trigger word for that assignment was " broken". I'd be interested to know what you think both about the image and the concept. Thanks again for taking the time to comment. Sally Link to comment
neild 1 Posted May 17, 2004 I quite like this image Sally, although the rendering (correct term?) doesn't do it for me so much - although a totally realistic version may not be so interesting either.I followed your link to the PT image: I actually liked it (!), but I didn't get the connection about it mimmicking a painting until I read it further down. So, are non-PT people allowed to comment on PT images? I wasn't sure, so I've only commented here... Link to comment
sallymckay-lepage 0 Posted May 17, 2004 Hey Neil.....not sure about non pT members commenting in that forum. I guess I should reload the image in my own portfolio if I'm going to refer to it. Quite frankly I think your right.....without the effects the image would be rather boring. I used the diffusing effect to highlight the negative space between the branches which I find more interesting than the branches themselves. I toyed with cropping it further ...making it more abstract but realized in doing so I'd loose the realism. What to do....what to do.... Sally Link to comment
the grey house 0 Posted May 17, 2004 Beautiful Sally. I would never have thought of that crop or presentation. Regards Paul. Link to comment
