Superbe shot!seems to be in a movie.

This is an amazing wreck to dive on, and explore, and the visibility was good, so I was

able to get the "big picture". Any comments welcome.

Amazing visibility. Beautiful picture. Transmits the mistery and excitement of finding a wreck underwater, even if you already know it is there.

that must have been very clear water. I dive and have never had that good of visibility

Wonderful wreck. angle is perfect.( background is opened light) I think so here is 20-30m deep. please share me technical detail. best regards

I did 2 dives on this wreck and this was taken on the second one. On the first dive we came down straight on top of the wreck. We explored the wreck, inside and outside, and only when I came up from this first dive, a little further away from the wreck, did I see the wreck in its entirety. I had only one shot left in the camera, which I took. I always leave one frame right until the end in case I see something good just before the end of the dive. However, this isn't it. As I took it I knew the shot wasn't what I had envisioned, but I had no air left to go into the position that I wanted (I had less than 50 bar at a depth of 25m!) This was a frustrating moment. (This is not the regular situation in which you put your camera on the tripod, drink coffee while you wait for the sunset to be perfect, changing lenses and film at will)

There was a vote on the boat deciding whether to do another dive on the same ship or move on. I raised three hands in favour and applied "moderate physical pressure" on those who were indecisive. On the second dive I moved away from the ship as far as was necessary to get this shot you see here. No flash, of course, only ambient light with f5.6 which gives me a depth of field from 0.5m-infinity on my 15mm lens.

I don't remember, but I think it's really not important in this case. I used ap. priority and I try not to go below 1/60s. Here it was probably 1/250.

I love ships and hate see them come to such an ignominious end like this, but that's life on the ocean. Your underwork is brilliant and this is a fine example of it.

Johannes, Congrats on your POW selection. This shot is a perfect example of what I wish had been chosen instead. Anyway, this is so good that I would typically expect that only graphic arts (painting, animation) could realize the scene. The water clarity is astonishing.

 

The shark photos are also fantastic, not to mention so much else in your portfolio. Thanks for sharing it all!

Excellent. You've got some good surface light in this. Not too far down, I take it?

one extreem to the other PAL this ones so sedate, like what can you do from here, or like the BG ate where would you like to go today. so cool, but the divers air bubles make it like accomodating and inviting. deep enough to be real and you can still see the surface? good light and dark.

Great shot Johannes... I see why you pushed for the second dive! The strong angles of the ship are wonderfully complimented by the diver's bubbles. Very strong composition. Are you desaturating the blue in photoshop? Thanks for a great image.
