johannes_felten 0 Posted May 7, 2004 During any dive, encountering a seal would be great. Ironically, while diving just off Dyer Island, South Africa, seeing a seal was just the problem, because there were literally thousands of them. It was not easy to get just one seal by itself. Link to comment
stephane camus 0 Posted May 7, 2004 Being a diver myself I know how swiff and fast the seals are. Added to this the difficulty of underwater photography, I am in total admiration of this shot. Amazing composition. Link to comment
shadow-island 0 Posted May 7, 2004 I value this shot knowing how difficult to capture this moment. Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted May 8, 2004 I don't often visit the Underwater folder and seeing this image, I can see that's a mistake. Splendid image. There's a real sense of grace in this image. Link to comment
don_harper_the_edge 0 Posted May 9, 2004 This is an excellent composition. Very well done. Few people realize the challenge of underwater photography. I love the contrast provided by the sea kelp. Well done, and consider these comments helpful or rubbish as you see fit. Link to comment
marionovak 0 Posted May 10, 2004 Great Shot, unless somebody is a diver, they cannot appreciate this shot, I still have to get some decent shots underwater myself Link to comment
adi1 0 Posted May 10, 2004 Best underwater portfolio I've seen so far. Fantastic. Cheers, Link to comment
voets 0 Posted May 14, 2004 That 15mm lens surely gives you the opportunity to take amazing shots. Well done! Link to comment
brian l. schiele 0 Posted May 28, 2004 I must say you are certainly one of the best underwater photographers I have ever seen this side of David Douiblet(sp).. You have a knack for seeing incredible images in such unusal conditions. Thanks for sharring your incredible images with us! Link to comment
mondiani 0 Posted June 1, 2004 my favourite one - even without the seal it will be a great picture Link to comment
bwmphoto 0 Posted June 1, 2004 Great shot, but may have benefited from a little fill flash not sure if the heavy shadow under the seal works. Maybe would have been better to use a more saturated film like Provia 400f . Link to comment
christopher_muscarella 0 Posted June 10, 2004 Your underwater photography is very, very good. I've never taken underwater pictures, but can imagine the difficulty. Any tips you care to offer? Link to comment
glogower 0 Posted July 18, 2004 very nice shot. Is he looking for the other members of his synchronized swim team? Link to comment
paul_lee6 0 Posted July 27, 2004 I dive in Monterey, CA and regularly encounter these animals. The photo really shows what they are like underwater. BTW, these are sealions, not seals. The differences are sealions swim with front flippers, have external earlobes, have long necks, are generally slimmer. Seals are more plump, only have earholes, swim with whole body, etc. Difference is quite obvious once you see both. Link to comment
elenanetea 0 Posted July 29, 2004 almost unreal... make me remind my old times when i used to play in Vue d'Esprit :) (a 3D image creation software) Link to comment
johannes_felten 0 Posted September 19, 2004 In principle you are right, but in South Africa they are known as Cape Fur Seals. Link to comment
