pradeep1 0 Posted May 5, 2004 i like this shot, just a suggestion, if you could have gone wider and closer to the branch on the ground it would have been more dramatic. cheers! Link to comment
peterfauland 0 Posted May 5, 2004 ... the composition is really nice. But it would be even more dramatic with the wood larger and more in the background. Do you have other shots ? bye Peter Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted May 5, 2004 I tempted to agree with the others, but if he goes lower he's going to lose the water. What f-stop did you shoot this at? Seems like this could use a bit more DOF. You've got pleasing colors and textures here, but I'd like something else for the foreground. Link to comment
doug_spice 0 Posted May 5, 2004 Hi there, since you went to the trouble of tracking me down, here's my thoughts: I agree with the above. The foreground is weak compared to the background; it's unbalanced. It's a nice photo but I feel like the foreground did need something MORE. The stick is okay, the stick larger would be good, but ideally I'd find something else, something you can focus on more (like the planks of a dock). Obviously you probably didn't have anything like that at your disposal, but in my ideal fantasy version of this landscape, you do. :) Link to comment
darren levant 0 Posted May 5, 2004 Great shot The other comments are worthless. Its fine the way it is.Sometimes with a image like this I might be tempted to reverse it leading in from left to right. But its a great shot and the composition is balanced. Michael Gilbert MA. CR. XXV Curator Pacific Center Link to comment

steve_patterson 0 Posted May 5, 2004 Great shot. The colors are magnificent, and I like the diagonal of the branch. Any idea what lens/f-stop you were shooting with? Link to comment
pedja 1 Posted May 6, 2004 Hi everybody. Thanks for the comments. The f stop here was f/8. I did make several shots and used other foregrounds as well. The background may be lacking sharpness because, during the postprocessing, I applied slight USM only to the foreground. Link to comment
jnapel 0 Posted May 6, 2004 I think this shot is great the way it is. To me, the composition and color balance are A1. Keep up the good work. Jerry Napel Link to comment
brandon hale 0 Posted May 6, 2004 I like this image I am not sure that I would change it. I can see the USM in the background but since my attention was drawn to the stick I did not notus untill I read your post. Your landscapes have always been very fine, how about a few people images. They were getting much better and then you stopped. Brandon Hale Link to comment

pedja 1 Posted May 7, 2004 In shooting landscapes I feel that I have more control then in street photography. Nevertheless, I am going to try it again this summer, but this time I will give a chance to my 24 mm lens. Link to comment
Dennis Newman 0 Posted May 8, 2004 No one has commented yet on the lighting, which I think is one of the best things about the image. You have the blue skies with puffy clouds in the background, but diffuse light on the foreground to bring out the patterns in the stones, and warm light to bring out the colors of the stick. I don't know if you were lucky, or knew how to take advantage of a good situation. Either way, job well done. I like the overall design, but like others I think the stick lacks impact. A different stick, maybe larger, maybe with a more interesting shape, would make this more appealing to me. I don't think it needs changes in the composition. Link to comment
pedja 1 Posted May 8, 2004 You are right about the light. The sun was partly hidden behind a hill and this was the last shot for the day. I was in a hurry to catch the last rays while the intensity of light was decreasing rapidly. When I pressed the shutter I thought the light was already too weak, but luckily, I was wrong. jacoangeli 0 Posted May 8, 2004 Yes, the light is outstanding and, in a context of a good and well composed shot, is the winner ! Link to comment
jannis 0 Posted May 8, 2004 It is simply a wonderful photoVery good lighting and composition Link to comment
