ithicks 0 Posted May 7, 2004 Would like some criticism on taking candid/portrait type shots. I am still trying to get "interesting" shots. Link to comment
eldritch48 0 Posted May 7, 2004 If I were you, I'd put a reflector on the other side to bounce some of the light back. As it stands, the right side of the picture is too dark. Link to comment
lorenzo_cuppini 2 Posted May 9, 2004 You captured a beautiful moment, indeed. Good the idea, less the result. Really nice light, but the face of the mother is too dark. I don't like framing. What's that black line behind the sofa? The faces or a bit blurred. Try to take more advantage from digital photography. Link to comment
arjen van de merwe 0 Posted May 10, 2004 This is a beautiful moment. The line of sight of the mother leads the ey towards the action of the child. th elight is beautiful, but the contrast too high for the digital camera. The side of the mothers face is burnt out, and the dark side of the faces is a bit dark. this can be helped a bit in digital editing:you can lighten the dark sections a bit. the burnt out part cannot be improved in any way. Alternatively (and better0 you can change the light when making the photograph. Putiing up a reflector or additional lights is not practical for a candid, but fill flash is. Minus 1 or 2 or even 3 would be plenty to lighten the dark parts, and you can expose a little less, to save the parts that are burnt out now. I usually prefer to bounce the fill flash off the ceiling, or a white wall. Link to comment
Dave Gardner 0 Posted May 18, 2004 As a candid....it's a really good shot. I love the lighting and the emotion. I agree with the others about the dark side on mom, but....it's a candid, and candids you take with you get. well done. Link to comment
