Great colors and lighting.

Sometimes you just have to be at the right place at the right time to get that perfect shot .... you did.

Excellent lighting and composition. A non-negligible detail are the parts of the fence driving the eye into the frame from the bottom.

Magical lighting and great composition. I love the way the swirl of the sky is 'anchored' by the geometry of the gate.

Thanks for all your comments and encouragement. I also had my trusty film camera on its tripod alongside my handheld attempt above with the Canon G3. It will be interesting to see how they compare when I get the film back from the processor.

Shoes are very important, especially for clambering up the muddy tracks to get here.

I think what makes this interesting is the repetition of the curves in the line of the clouds and similar curves in the ground - there's a strong curve in the ground continued in the right-hand sloping pole, and another curve in the ground also. I've tried to show this in the attached.

This shot could have been been vastly improved if the photograpgher was wearing size 10 and above shoes.

I disagree about the shoes as I find that anything above 91/2 doesn't work for me.

I see... The shoe issue has been discussed...

Anyway, now I'm really pleased that I came across your portfolio. This is really great landscaping.
