Día de la Cruz en Trevejo

nher

Today it has been yhe day dedicated to the Cross in the tiny village of Treveko, as in many other places all over in Spain. The morning was bright but extremely windy. Sometimes we even could not walk. This is the moment I captured. The image has been made in three shots joined together and then I have set a stronger sky in the bacground. For me, everybody is in the right position and at the right moment. Hope you injoy it from a photographic point of view. Thank you!

Where is the moderator when he or she is really needed? Despite efforts he makes, this party cannot look at images in a manner that is socially acceptable. Other slurs are also made showing a problem that needs to be corrected.

A human almost dying of tortue is an image that severely affects my sensitivities, John so I have every right to state some verified facts regarding the meaning of this image. If the facts are unpleasant to you, that is not my fault.

What is unpleasant is to find people with political/sexual/personal/etc. or (like in your case) religious agenda taking advantage of every opportunity to vomit theirs "truth".

I would suggest you and everyone like you to find a better place to discuss your thoughts about christian religion, and keep your comments to photographical issues.

Believe me, I would like to read them, but not here. Thanks in advance.

Twisting image remarks to suit his personality defects.... Back to the image. I like the sky and the overall view. Terrific color. But..I feel that the image needs to be set up differently because right now the crucifix and the background are dominant, while all there is to the right in the foreground is a bunch of heads and shoulders. Since the image cannot be re-photographed, I was hoping that you might have some different images that could be posted.

It is entirely fitting that the tortured Christ should be in the centre, for those who believe in having someone to turn to when everything else in their lives is lost...

The devil has had his advocates for two thousand years, yet even now they cannot overcome or destroy the terrible beauty of the suffering rabbi, as depicted here.

Stating facts John is not a personality defect. You may continue to insult me as long as you wish. Some photos on PN have strong emotioanl attachments for the viewer, not only DOF, lighting and perspective etc.. PN photos are freely discussed, including explicit sexuality, in quite a few nude postings. I dont see your ciritcism of the critics there John.. This one hurts me, as it brings back clearly to me, the brutal beatings and torture endured by Malidoma Patrice Loma, a fellow psychic healer, during his forced indoctrination into this cult, in a mission in Africa..this and his eventual difficult escape, to continue his, journey has been well documented. To others, it obviously has different meanings/emotions/feelings....

In defense of Tom, are only popular opinions to be considered "protected speech"? It is precisely the dissenting views that are in most need of some degree of respect for having been voiced, whether one agrees with them or not.

I happen to like the photo myself.

Thomas, You are right to say that this picture represents the depths the human spirit call fall to. But to many Angel's picture also represents the heights the human spirit can reach. It is about the extremes of good and evil. The fact that many have corrupted the high ideals of love and sacrifice does not take away from them.

Well, folks. The moderator has arrived home after two days away for work reasons.

And what have I found? A deep discussion about a photograph. To me this is just a photo I have taken about what some people do in the Fiestas. That´s all.

Whatever your religion is, Thomas, I respect it. Never has been my intention to offend anyone with this shot. But on the other hand PHOTO NET is a web page where people, like you and me, show our "photographic" work in order to receive your critics from a technical point of view.

I am not going to discuss any other matters in this page, this is not the forum for that. For those who do not like the shot, all I can say is "thank you" for watching it. And for those who like it, "thank you" as well. This is what PN is all about.

Some fifty years ago, Eugene Smith came to my land, Extremadura, and took a few photographas obout it. They were published in the magazine LIFE and the rest of the world saw them. I disagree with the meaning of some of Eugene´s shots, but they were mesterpieces and he is one of my favourites since the moment I discovered him.

Probably, something similar is happening here.

Anyway, feel free everyone but if I may give you an advive PHOTO NET is a photo webpage. Let it be this way.

Thank you to all of you for wacthing the image. My best regards.

This is some of the best digital darkroom work I've seen in a long time. Yes it is three photos, but your work on this is really nice and is well done and composed. My only comment to any of the above, is not all who have commented on this have photos posted on PN....BTW, my only pick is, imo, it is a tad dark on my monitor.

No creo que en este caso un ByN sea la opcin, es la vivacidad de los colores que le da vida a esta escena. De todas maneras siempre es bueno experimentar un poco...

A great narrative!

No matter how you 'composed' it, it certainly tells the story you wanted to tell.

It sure caught my interest for a second (sure has impact). But looking into it a bit deeper (after putting my glasses on) I see it is not a finished product. People around are dressed in present day attire, the center piece is just a statue. But the background is excellant, and it certainly gives us a feel for what it may have been like over 2000 yrs ago. They do this kind of stuff in movies, so I see nothing objectionable here. Europeans have different traditions, it may offend someone here, but not others. To me it is a group of people gathered to commemorate a important moment from history. This looks like a straight shot to me, and the composition is excellant, although a bit more foreground would be nice.
