Interesting spot lighting, but it's far from being acceptably sharp.

Thank you for the comment, Its a long exposure using cokin warming soft focus filters and a mag light, the soft "deamy" look is what I was after

 

I will have to try something like this but keep the front flower sharper and have the background soft (I would use a tilt/shift lens to better control the DOF)

You could set your lens to the hyperfocal distance. Probably somewhere on the second row, to maximize the appearance of deep focus.

but the last thing I wanted was a "picture" that was sharp from front to back

I know this one has been here a while, but I was glancing through... I like the way the first flower glows and stands out from the rest. Everything else just fades away... It works for me!
