Tuhin 2 Posted April 25, 2004 it seems the subject is conscious of the photographer, was this the best option available? Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted April 25, 2004 Shiv, I like the expression of the model. I wish you could have kept his chin in the shot however. Another thing you might have tried his having him not look directly at the camera. Link to comment
vikram_bose_mullick 0 Posted April 26, 2004 I think I know what ur trying to achieve here. It's not about composition or expression.. it's just an obsessive need to capture the richest possible surface texture and achieving that superb exposure of skin at the expense of everything else.. I wonder if 1/6th of a second is too long for ur model to remain perfectly still. I'd use more light to get a better exposure time. Another trick is to shoot shutter priority and use the flash in high speed sync. Link to comment
rob m 0 Posted April 26, 2004 I like it - moody and brooding and a "you want some of me? Well I don't give a ****" expression. Link to comment
svkamaraju 0 Posted April 29, 2004 Thank you all for your comments. @Tuhin: I am not sure if the model conveys the feeling of being too conscious about the camera/photographer. If he does, I think it is a matter of personal interpretation. As far as being the best option available, maybe the photogrpaher(me) was not the best option:-).Look forward to hearning more often from you. @Amar: I absolutely agree with the comment on the chin.I felt the same way after the shoot but it was the image I had and it still had some interesting elements to be worked with.It could have been much better with the chin in place. Thanks! @Vikram: I am surprised the EXIF data is still viewable after I had done some post-processing in Adobe CS. I checked and was surprised myself. I try my best not to use the on board flash on the camera (there is no hot shoe for external flash) and try to achieve all the effects using natural light or my own basic lighting (mostly table lamps).I am still trying to get that perfect picture with these lights - someday!! Maybe with a different camera I can try out some of the stuff you pointed out. Thanks for the comments. @Rob: Thanks for your comment. I am glad you like it. Link to comment
vikram_bose_mullick 0 Posted May 1, 2004 Hi shiv.. I know the flash gives poor results in the begining but without it u cannot achieve superb results. Sorry to hear that ur camera doesn't have a hot sync.. there's got to atleast be a PC sync. Link to comment
svkamaraju 0 Posted May 1, 2004 Most times I am trying to stretch the results the camera can achieve (or for what it was intended when it was built) so flash is out for me for moody pictures like this. But I would like to keep experimenting without flash-especially in low light conditions like this picutre. I have no problems with using flash in other conditions like a overcast day or early evening or when shooting outdoors. But this pic especially was intended to get this feel-so no flash here. Thanks for checking back. Always nice to hear from you. I am trying more like this.I'll post them so please check back. :-) Link to comment
