Perhaps a neutral grad filter to cut down some of the rising sun to show details of inside the crater? Otherwise a great shot!

I'd definitely crop the white top and most of the black bottom. They distract a lot. With these cropped, the image becomes simple and includes nothing that doesn't belong to it... very good.

 

I agree with Vadim, have you tried it? It looks wonderful, I just quickly took it into photoshop & cropped the white & most of the black. Also I straightened the horizon. A beautiful shot indeed, well done!

I do like the cropped the version better, especially when displayed on the screen. I left the sky and the bottom part partly because it's closer to what is in the slide and partly because the slide offers more detail in those areas than I could get out of my scanner. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll be reprinting the newer version.
