The lonely maiden

gauthier

Cyanotype. Contact printed from my first 8x10 negative ever, shot on Sunday - what you see on screen is probably a bit smaller than the actual negative. These big negs are really something to look at!

The camera I used is a 100+ year old Seneca, fitted with a same vintage Rapid Rectilear lens. It's so old it doesn't use the current f/stop system, but the old American system. The RR lens design was patented in 1866 by Dallmeyer and was the standard high quality lens during the 1880-1890 both in Europe and the US. (Uploaded April 21, 2004)

Cyanotype, contact printed from a 8x10 negative. The camera and lens I

used are both over 100 years old. Does it have anything to envy to

digital photography?

I love this treatment. Pardon my ignorance, but is this (cyanotype) where you make up the emulsion and expose by setting it in the sun. I bought a print at a charity auction once, and the artist told me that's how he did it.

Looks like the picture is 100 yrs old too.
