cityshapes 0 Posted April 21, 2004 my mom used to talk about camping there as a child (one of her only pleasant childhood memories). I don't think I've ever seen a picture of the place. Thanks for sharing... Link to comment
christopher_beard 0 Posted April 21, 2004 It might have been a little nicer to have the branch slightly above the horizon line. Link to comment

watchin 0 Posted April 21, 2004 I tried the branch up and down framing. I chose this one because of the way it fit the clouds, and I wanted the reflection in the pool as well. BTW - this is south side of the lake in Lake Shore Park looking north. Link to comment
christos 0 Posted May 18, 2004 i find this very good because i can almost feel the breeze!... (btw, for my own knowledge: what do you think the filter used here has added to the photo?) Link to comment
watchin 0 Posted May 20, 2004 Christos, Thanks for the kind remarks. The filter adds a little contrast to the sky, pops the clouds some, darkens the blue a little. The problem was trying to get the sky without loosing the reflections in the pool under the limb, or turning the lake and sky blue/black. You have to adjust the filter for the subtle difference. This shot without the filter would have lost the feathery clouds into a pale blue sky and the reflections in the pool would have been just glare. Shun Cheung started an interesting discussion on this topic at : http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=003ufI Hope that helps.. Link to comment
watchin 0 Posted May 20, 2004 Christos, I just added another photo from the same shoot to my portfolio (see "reflecting pool"). The major difference is that the polarizer was dialed completely transparent in that shot to get the full effect of the pool. Notice the difference in the sky. These two shots are about 5 min apart I believe. Link to comment
