stumpy 0 Posted April 21, 2004 The movement of the water is great - makes the pic look less staged than it might have being. The play of light on the left model suggests possibilities for improvement after all silhouettes are easy!! The title should play on the dicotomy of fire and water. Link to comment

dan_paley 0 Posted April 22, 2004 I'm looking hard for the Emperor's clothes and I just don't see them. The women's poses strike me as god-awful contrivances and I don't understand how they relate to whatever you are trying to convey. The title suggests that you mean to play off the contrast between sea and sky... warm/serene vs. cool/turbid? Maybe the women are meant to suggest projections of the water and its more energetic aspect into the more placid sky. (but why would the left-hand woman be looking back down??) If that interpretation is correct, the angular and strained poses are logical, but in an aesthetic sense they still make me wince. I can't get past those 20 fingers all akimbo. How uncomfortable your models must have been, I can't imagine. Could you try to explain the themes you had in mind for this picture? Link to comment
rick vincent 1 Posted April 22, 2004 I really like how all the elements of this photo came together for you. The perfect sunset, the motion of the water and the slight highlights of detail in the silhouettes. My only complaint is the model on the right. Her presense is unnecessary, and when I visualize this image with only the left model, I find it much stronger overall. I challenge other viewers too hold their finger over the right model and see if you get the same feeling I do when I view this shot. The left model's pose is just so much more captivating and your focal point would have been so much stronger with all the lines in the rest of the photo leading towards her. Link to comment

mg 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Models - especially the left one - are wonderfully posed. The exposure is spot on. The water movement is terrific. Some would probably want to cut down on the saturation level a little and touch-up the vignetting, but in fact, the more I look at the vignetting, the more I feel it helps to focus our attention on the main subject. Really very nice. Regards. Link to comment
eric_t. 0 Posted July 14, 2004 what's not to love about this photo...right on target in every aspect...and the vignetting only emhances the drama. very well done! Link to comment
sky blue 0 Posted July 9, 2005 Wish you had more like these posted. Fantastic colors and imagery. I see mermaids experiencing their new legs and filled with excitement as they come ashore. Just my views though. Very good image. ~Sky Link to comment
