asimh 0 Posted April 19, 2004 This is my cousin's hands the day of her wedding ceremony. this is done using mendhi (also known as henna dye i believe). i am using vertical orientation b/c most hand shots you see are horizontal. perhaps this causes a bit more tension? - asim Link to comment
andreasalini 0 Posted April 19, 2004 Interesting subject but in my opinion the pose do not permit to maximize it, B&W is perfect. Link to comment
john_chapman1 0 Posted April 19, 2004 Photo lacks the sharpness that such a subject demands. Link to comment
asimh 0 Posted April 19, 2004 thanks for your comments everyone. andrea: i know the pose isnt the best. this was done in the middle of the kitchen with a bunch of people around - not to make an excuse, but it was the best i could get outside of a "real" setting. John: as per above, i am sure trying to get this with available light, my shutter speed was probably not high enough to make it crystal sharp. next time! - asim Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted June 10, 2004 Considering the context of the shot, I think this is really good (just curious, were the subject's hands originally lying flat, on a table or something? Something about them seems wrong for verticle, I'd have loved to have seen a more "fluid" pose). I like the way you've set them off in b&w, and the clarity seems just fine. Nice work I'd say p.s., thanks for your comments, & feel free to modify anything you want. I liked your suggestion quite a bit! Link to comment
asimh 0 Posted June 10, 2004 actually the subject's hands are floating horizontally. i had forgotten my flash at home so had to use the oncamera flash. i'm sure with everything going around me, i probably didnt use a fast enough shutter, i probably shook the camera some, and no doubt my cousing moved her hands a tad from holding them freefloating in the air. i thought the vertical orientation would give a bit more dynamic/restless feel to the shot. thanks for your comments. - asim Link to comment

asimh 0 Posted June 13, 2004 i have seen your wedding series pics and thought they were fantastic. i did take this pic, however, before i had the good fortune of looking through some of your shots. if i had seen yours first, i would have tried to make this one even better than it is. thanks for your comments. Guest Guest Posted July 4, 2004 Asim, possibly rotating this to make the fingers point down might be nice. It would be the same hand pose as if she were showing you her hands for admiration. I think the hands tilting to the left on this is what makes it slightly uneasy. or to reduce that uneasiness-rotate slightly so the hands appear to be leaning to the right-which would be a natural hand movement vs the left.
