evila 0 Posted March 15, 2001 This is an artistic picture I got in the middle of a studio session. It was taken using Tri-X film and enlarged on multigraded paper using filters to elevate the contrast Link to comment
jdc 0 Posted March 16, 2001 I love the idea! The use of a short focal length makes the hand appear very large causing it to compete with the torso. Unfortunately (to my eys)The shallow DOF leaves the hand out of focus. I would have everything in focus or only the hand. The detail and size of the hand would be such a great counterpoint to the smooth modeling of the torso. Link to comment
bettina_ansaria 0 Posted March 18, 2001 I think the way that shadow on her left side cuts into her and distorts her body is very unappealing. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 18, 2001 The shadow works. It's a nice relief from the common boring nude female shot. Link to comment
amypowers 0 Posted March 20, 2001 I like the shadow, but the hand is a little distracting. Nice grain in the skin of the stomach. Link to comment
jeff_clark 0 Posted August 8, 2001 The image is just wonderful, and enjoy looking at it. But, it still needs more contrast, I'm afraid. Stare at the images highlights that have no detail. Make sure there is no neutral gray just laying there, taking up space. Black areas with no detail should be black, the same as white areas with no detail should be paper white. If you're using gels, you may be getting the best of what you can. But, in time, try to get your hands on an actual color head that can allow you to adjust minute amounts of contrast. When you dial in contrast in your printing, you'll be laughing at the other's who haven't mastered it. Link to comment
