Hi Paul.Well I was wondering when I was going to have to speak about this series? Perhaps I'm reluctant because the necessity that drove the work is personal. Five years ago my husband and I had a child. A beautiful and utterly remarkable child that unknowingly was to become my world. At the time of his birth I was determined to return to work and resume my career after my maternity leave. I continued to fool myself for the 6 months that followed until the day I was to return to work. After realizing I had no intention of leaving our son with soneone else I spent many a month that followed soaked in domesticity.....literally and figuratively. The draining series is a reflection of that time spent hunched over a sink literally watching bubbles and water dance and swirl around the basin ultimatly draining and fading from sight. But, not before telling me many a tale or two about the nature of time and how quikely it slips between our fingers.

The allegory isn't a new one but it is new to me. Only now am I returning to the creative process and finding the balance between the role of mother and the other. Hopefully the series will inevitably convey that what might at first seem tedious and rather unremarkable is now and has the potential to be truely wonderous and worth the effort made.

But enough about me and mine. I did see your new image but not from your link.......it's way up on the curators pick list for the last 24 hours. I just hope you'll still talk to us ' lowens ' when your famous!!! Just kiddin. Thanks again for the continued interest and support.

Sally

Thanks for the history. Your work in this series is all the more meaningful to me now that I can view it in context. Regards to you and your son.
