Wonderful colours & great perspective. I can smell the sea and feel the wind. regards,

You are probably right about the bottom, but I just couldn't fit it in my camera and I really wanted to achieve that perspective with my 20mm. I wanted to get as close as possible not lose other elements (the flag and the paddles)

All the best and thank you for the comments

Great scene and wonderful saturation! I'm currently in the middle of a roll of Velvia 100F and this makes me excited!

czesc

Hmmm no wlasnie: troche przepalona burta, mimo swietnego nieba.

Hi Pawel - I HAVE TO SAY i LIKE YOUR PHOTO FOR GOOD COLOURS -AND LOVELY COMPOSITION- good sharpness and DOF. I amire photographers who can compose a nice scene out of nothing - and you are one of them - congratulations

Nice bright colors adding an element of interest in an otherwise somewhat average scene. The divers flag, the paddles, rope and even the name on the boat really make this an interesting capture here. I wouldn't mind seeing the bottom of the boat either (as mentioned before) but can take it as is since everything is right upon us so that we can see a very good measure of detail in all of those elements I just mentioned.

My only suggestion here would have been to use a tripod, stop down to perhaps f-16 or so, and get better depth with a clearer background. I have been shooting many situations and varying the aperture greatly, only to find most of the winning images were captured when I stopped down. Having most all of the scene nice and sharp has been more effective than I initially realized. I used to believe that as long as the main subject was sharp, having the rest of the scene slightly out of focus was fine..even preferred because the focus stays on the main subject. Now, I have come to appreciate on most images it looks even better when the entire scene is crisp. Therefore the one viewing can look wherever they wish and not be forced so to speak to look at the focused main subject exclusively. With the F-5 it's as simple as rotating the little dial with your thumb. Just my two cents here. Nice colorful work once again Pawel. Aloha.

The reason a camera has an aperture is to be able to use it to make aesthetic choices as well as properly expose the film. You made some good choices here. Normally I find it distracting if the image has the bottom cut off, but in this case I think it actually helps ground the image, and the fact that you paid so much attention to where you wanted each and every element in the frame speaks to your mastery of detail. If you would have done anything different it would not have improved this spectacular, well balanced piece of art.

Definitively a nice shot! From my point of view you just exceed in the use of the polarizer (light is at 90 degrees with you and so you have the dark blue spot on the top right corner!). I'd rather prefer a "soft" polarizer use!
