waiting 2

adi1

This image is unmanipulated. The difference between this one and the other version of "waiting" I've uploaded some months ago is that, with this new one, I used the channel mixer in order to get proper desaturation (PS7). IMO it works better. What do you think ?

what a woderful image... i really think the real draw to this image is the hands... my eyes look at the faces... but returns to the hands as quickly ... ive come back to see it many times... i really want to know if you were beeing "invisible" or they knew...

The most stunning man's face I have come across on photo.net. I guess you could maybe crop away a bit at the top and make it tighter: it's not clear why we should be allowed to see all that space and not the subject's hands in their entirety. That would IMO set the balance right. Great, btw.

I too enjoy the expression on the man's face, but I would not enjoy it as i do if it weren't for the equally impressive look of contemplation on the child's face. I also like the feel of the dead trees in the foreground and the live ones in the back, it provides a subtle balance, especially in the black and white.

There's a few things about this photograph that I really like. Good black & white contrast. Nice "aged" versus "youth" thing going on. There's also a nice "comfortable" feel to the image...I think it's because of both facial expressions, their body language, and the leaves on the old guy's sweater which he doesn't even seem to notice. Great portrait.

I went into your portfolio to compare the two images and I think you hit the nail on the head with the changes you have made. Very interesting portrait. I love the balance you have achieved in the positioning of the subjects. I think that the space on the top provides for an interesting backdrop. My eyes are drawn to the old mans hands, and it does not bother me that I can't see them all. I love the pensiveness of both of these gentlemens expressions.

Thanks very much for your appreciation. I'm glad you liked it. And BTW: I like the way he's holding his hands, too... they are like a completion to his mien and IMO very important for the composition. Cheers,

generation gap... ? Nice capture, the kid´s eyes are great and also the old man has a very superficial look. Congrats.
