alan kolnik 0 Posted November 1, 2004 If I had the patience, I'd give you a 7/7 on every picture in this portfolio - excellent composition, color management, and technique. Amazing what you did with a simple induistrial shape. Link to comment
hdl 0 Posted January 23, 2007 Very nice Anthony. I did a very similar one several years ago but the tank was much smaller and the effect was not as nice as this. Good eye. Link to comment
dgv 1 Posted May 24, 2007 Very good abstruct colours and TITLE. You have a very good eye. Congrats. Link to comment
darcy_cote 0 Posted May 24, 2007 Beautiful image. The only thing I would do different however, if you can is to have someone walking up the stairs with a red uniform on at the beginning of the stairs. Or just stick someone in there digitally. Darcy Link to comment
aseverin 0 Posted May 25, 2007 Everyone has made great points about why this image is striking and effective. I think that one aspect has been overlooked: the fact that the sky gets lighter as it gets closer to the tank and then casts blue on its surface. This is really important to the shot because it creates a volumetric quality. Its like the sky is also bending backwards, creating a crease in the image from both directions. The blue cast makes this shot real. Because, remember every, this is photography, not graphic design. I think lesser photographers would have just desaturated that piece of the tank.... (i don't know how much Photoshop work was done on this (if any), but it's superb) its nice to see a picture you can actually think and talk about in the photo of the week section. i mean... not that i don't LOVE flowers. -Alex Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted May 27, 2007 "[T]he sky gets lighter as it gets closer to the tank. . . ." Alex, I see it, too, but I believe that it is an illusion. Cover the tank and look again at the sky. --Lannie Link to comment
seismiccwave 0 Posted January 18, 2008 This is a classic with a modern twist. I like the composition of the tank and the stairs. That is timeless. Then you added the modern twist with the yellow stairs and blue sky. That is beautiful. Link to comment
janc 0 Posted January 18, 2008 Hi Anthony! Precious lines, curves, colors and framing. What can I say more? Great shot. Best regards. Link to comment
david_callard 0 Posted January 19, 2008 A beautiful image in terms of lighting, composition with color and form. My only suggestion would be to echo Darcy's observation re adding a figure somewhere on the stairs. To mantain the theme of composing with color the figure should be male (masculine subject), wearing red work clothes and maybe with white hard hat. The issue then becomes where to place such an element. I have been playing around with out it in my mind's eye, and it turns out not to be as easy as it might first seem........ Link to comment
